BTS member Suga has been revealed as the face of luxury brand Valentino’s 2024 S/S collection titled The Narratives.
On Valentino’s promotional video for the campaign, Suga is dressed in an all white suit ensemble as he goes through autograph signings, a press conference, and photoshoot. The caption of the video reads, “In the new collection formalwear is juxtaposed with oversized pieces, floral motifs, and delicate details. SUGA of BTS embodies this new style celebrating freedom and individuality.”
In the accompanying teaser, the brand also described Suga’s participation in the campaign as “The energy, individuality and story of stardom.”
Valentino’s Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli shared to WWD last year that, Suga is “a multifaceted artist; he is an interpreter and uses his talent and his work to express himself with energy and authenticity. He perfectly embodies everything that DI.VA.s testimonials stand for: diversity, inclusivity, creativity and passion.”
In response, Suga shared that he believes that “all individuals have different dreams and values.” He went on to say that the Valentino brand as well as Piccioli “have been supportive of diversity, which is something that I also believe in.” The rapper was introduced as the brand’s global ambassador in January 2023.
Suga is currently undertaking his mandatory national service as a social service agent, as part of South Korea’s mandatory military service. He enlisted last year in September, following J-hope’s enlistment in April. Jin was the first to enlist for military service in December 2022. The remaining members of BTS — RM, Jungkook, V, and Jimin — enlisted in December. Most members of BTS will return from their service in 2025, with Jin and J-Hope concluding their contract in 2024.
In 2023, Suga — who is also artistically known as Agust D — embarked on his first solo tour, which saw sold-out stops across the US and Asia. The tour comes in support of his album, D-Day which comes as the third and final installment of the rapper’s album trilogy, following 2020’s D-2 and 2016’s Agust D.
