In a heartwarming gesture to close out 2023, BTS’ Jimin, is bestowing a special gift upon fans in the form of a brand-new solo single, “Closer Than This.” BigHit Music, the singer’s management company, unveiled this exciting news on Wednesday (Dec. 20), setting the stage for a musical treat for BTS’ fans, ARMY.
Taking to Weverse to make the grand revelation, BigHit expressed their enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to announce the release of BTS member Jimin’s digital single, ‘Closer Than This,'” scheduled to drop at 2 p.m. KST on Friday, translating to midnight ET on Dec. 22 for fans in the United States. According to the announcement, this latest project from the 28-year-old K-pop luminary is a “heartfelt fan song that encapsulates Jimin’s genuine feelings for members of the ARMY.”
“As we approach the final days of 2023, we hope that ‘Closer Than This,’ with its lyrics conveying Jimin’s love and affection for his fans, will bring you hope and warmth,” concluded the message from BigHit, setting the stage for an emotional connection through music.
The revelation of Jimin’s new single comes on the heels of his, along with bandmates V, Jung Kook, and RM’s, mandatory military enlistment. Suga, and J-Hope had already commenced their military service earlier this year, joining Jin who had enlisted last December.
Notably, earlier this year, the hitmaker released his first EP, “Face,” which soared to No. 2 on the Billboard 200. A standout track, from the project, “Like Crazy,” marked a historic moment for Jimin as it clinched the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in April –– solidifying his status as a chart-topping soloist.
Jimin’s achievements were further celebrated last month at the MAMA Awards, where he stood as a top nominee with eight nods and was crowned Best Male Artist. Reflecting on the accolades, Jimin expressed gratitude to the ARMY on Weverse, saying, “Today we received so many valuable awards today. Thank you very much to all ARMYs who always support and love us. We will do our best to show you better music and performances. Thank you again, and I love you.”
