The Nation’s Girl Group BINI and Broadway legend Lea Salonga are teaming up for a new version of “A Parallel World,” as part of the soundtrack of DreamWorks’ upcoming animated film Forgotten Island.
Announced on August 18, 2026 through social media, the film’s 37-track score was officially unveiled alongside pre-orders for the physical album in vinyl, CD, and cassette formats. The soundtrack will be released on digital streaming platforms on September 18, 2026, ahead of Forgotten Island’s Philippine theatrical release on September 23, 2026.
Originally released by the P-pop girl group on July 23, 2026, “A Parallel World” is an electro-pop track centered on themes of friendship and hope. The song now gets an amping mix featuring Salonga. Composers Nathan Matthew David and Shawn Wasabi shared the news of the collaboration on their social media, writing, “A completely reimagined version of the song. This one is magic.”
Both versions are part of the official soundtrack for Forgotten Island, which is directed by Academy Award nominee Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado and draws from Filipino mythology and culture, with a Filipino-led voice cast and soundtrack.
Salonga voices the film’s Dreaded Manananggal and also appears on other tracks from the score, including “Ninakaw Sa Akin,” “Magnanakaw,” “Balik,” “Bahagi Mo,” and “Ang Manananggal Suite.”
The soundtrack also features Grammy-winning Filipino-American singer H.E.R. and Filipina actress Liza Soberano on the lead single “BRB.” KATSEYE’s Sophia Laforteza lends her voice to a version of INXS’ “Never Tear Us Apart,” while the Kings of P-pop SB19 take on Francis Magalona’s “Mga Kababayan.” Ruby Ibarra also collaborates with Carl Angelo on “Salbahe Ako.”
Composed by Nathan Matthew David, the film’s score incorporates influences from 1980s pop and hip-hop alongside traditional Filipino sounds and instruments. The album is now available for pre-order via Mutant, priced at PHP 2,900.
Forgotten Island arrives in Philippine cinemas on September 23, 2026, with its soundtrack arriving on digital streaming platforms on September 18, 2026.
