The Recording Academy officially wants you to listen to BINI and UNIS.

On October 3, the GRAMMYs published a list entitled ’12 Rising Girl Groups To Know Now,’ showcasing genre-diverse, up-and-coming girl groups from all over the world, including Asia, the US, and the UK. Those included on the list are described as “exciting groups that will continue to push the needle of girl group culture” as well as being part of “a surge of girl groups resurrecting the sounds of female empowerment and stacked harmonies,” much like what veteran units like 5th Harmony, the Pussycat Dolls, and Destiny’s Child did.

Among those in the list personally handpicked by the Recording Academy were the Philippines’ very own Nation’s Girl Group BINI and global K-pop rookies UNIS.

In the list, the GRAMMYs described the members of BINI — Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoannna and Sheena — as “leading the revolution” of P-pop “becoming one of the fastest-growing music markets” during a time of “K-pop’s global domination.” They also highlighted BINI for having “captured Southeast Asia” with their “EDM-driven pop production and a blend of English and Tagalog lyrics” while noting the octet’s achievements of being “the first Filipino act to enter Spotify’s Top Artist Global Chart and to perform at the long-standing KCON festival” in Los Angeles. “It’s no surprise they’ve been dubbed the “Nation’s Girl Group,” proclaimed the Recording Academy.

Meanwhile, UNIS journey to formation in 2023 through the survival show Universe Ticket was highlighted. The list noted the show’s and the group’s responsibility of “[bringing] together talent across Asia.” This, while making history by introducing “some of the first Filipino idols in the K-pop industry” with the inclusion of full-blooded Filipino members Gehlee and Elisia, alongside Korean-Filipino Hyeonju — the group’s leader. In addition, their successful debut in early 2024 with the mini-album WE UNIS was also spotlighted alongside their first comeback with the single “Curious.”

Joining these two on the list are FLO (UK), VCHA (US), KISS OF LIFE (KR), ARTMS (KR), NiziU (JP), Blackswan (KR), Citizen Queen (US), Say Now (UK), 4EVE (TH), and SZNS (US).
