Fresh off the premier of the UK premiere of RENAISSANCE: A FILM BY BEYONCÉ, the pop juggernaut Beyoncé has graced her fans (affectionately termed the Bey-Hive) with an early Christmas gift with a surprise new song titled, “MY HOUSE.” This marks Beyoncé’s first new release since dropping the critically acclaimed “RENAISSANCE” last year, which marked the first act of a three-part series teased by the global icon.
Co-produced by Beyoncé herself and The Dream, the rap-influenced “MY HOUSE” was featured at the tail end of the RENAISSANCE film, and piqued the audience’s curiosity as it played when the credits rolled –– which also coincided with the track’s immediate release on all digital and streaming platforms.
In a poignant spoken-word moment of the song, Beyoncé declares, “I will always love you, but I will never expect you to love me when you don’t love yourself. Let’s heal the world, one beautiful action at a time; this is real love!”
This past year of 2023 has been a monumental one for Beyoncé, as she clinched a groundbreaking record by securing the title of the artist with the most Grammy wins in history following the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. The accolades poured in for the queen bee, with victories in categories such as Best Dance/Electronic Music Album, Best Dance/Electronic Recording, Best Traditional R&B Performance, and Best R&B Song.
May 2023 also marked the commencement of the Renaissance World Tour, a spectacular return to the stage for Beyoncé since 2018’s Homecoming Tour. The tour’s visual spectacle included a mesmerizing stage setup –– featuring a flying disco horse and mechanical robot arms which went viral on all social media platforms. Going beyond the ordinary, Beyoncé incorporated her daughter Blue Ivy into choreographed dance segments at select stops of her tour, and even surprised fans by inviting Arca to open her Barcelona concert with an impromptu DJ set –– most of which was included in the recently released film.
RENAISSANCE: A FILM BY BEYONCÉ is a part-documentary, part-concert film that revisits her record-shattering Renaissance World Tour that concluded in October. In the film, she weaves together performances from the trek with vignettes that invite viewers into her personal life, with appearances from her mother Tina Knowles, husband Jay-Z, and daughter Blue Ivy Carter.
