beabadoobee unpacks the uncertainties of her mid-twenties on her fourth studio album, Pylon, released through Dirty Hit.
“Pylon is about accepting that negative feelings are going to come back—accepting the insecurity and feeling confused. It’s all a necessary part of growing and knowing yourself better. You have to go through all that shit; I have to write about it,” the Iloilo-born singer-songwriter shares in the press release.
The record features the most complex sound she has released yet, exploring feelings of isolation, homesickness, and longing for connection that she experienced while touring. Moving through emotions of anger, loneliness, excitement, and love, Pylon is the culmination of her experiences writing songs alone at 17 in hotel rooms.
Across the album, some of her biggest rock influences contribute their own pieces. Hayley Williams lends her vocals to one track, while Turnstile’s Brendan Yates sings a verse on another. Collaborators and labelmates Matty Healy and George Daniel of The 1975 produced one track, while Pinegrove’s Evan Stephens Hall, Deftones’ Chino Moreno, and Title Fight’s Shane Moran also contributed to the record.
