Legendary OPM group APO Hiking Society are set to celebrate 50 years in the music industry at the Newport Performing Arts Theater this November 17.
The group’s Jim Paredes and Boboy Garovillo, will be performing their hits over the years. Ticket prices for the concert range from P1,200 for the bronze tier to P7,800 for the platinum. Tickets are now available at all TicketWorld and SM Tickets outlets.
Paredes and Garovillo held another two-day 50th anniversary concert earlier this year at their alma mater, Ateneo de Manila University. The event was co-presented by Areté and Maryknoll College Batch 1974, for the benefit of the Miriam College Endowment Fund Scholarship Program and the May Puno! May Buhay! tree planting project.
APO Hiking Society was originally composed of Jim Paredes, Boboy Garrovillo, and the late Danny Javier. Aside from his role in the group, Javier is credited as the creator of the term Original Pilipino Music (OPM), which continues to be used to describe Filipino compositions until today.
