Aerosmith have permanently retired from touring.
On August 3, the American rock icons surprised their fans and the rest of the music world by announcing that they will officially no longer go on tour ever again. This follows after their farewell North American tour dubbed “Peace Out: The Farewell Tour” began last September 2, 2023 in Philadelphia but was immediately postponed after the third show on September 9, 2023 in Elmont due to frontman Steven Tyler heavily injuring his vocal cords during the performance. In order to give Tyler time to recover, the tour was set to be set to be rescheduled this September 2024 until February 2025.
However, with Tyler’s inability to recover from his injury, this would not push through. “As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other,” the band stated in their announcement, elaborating that Tyler had been continually spending months trying to heal his voice back to what it once was, noting how much he has struggled even with “the best” medical personnel assisting and aiding him. “Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision — as a band of brothers — to retire from the touring stage.”
“We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time,” they further stated, thanking their crew, team, and everyone in between “who’ve made our historic runs possible.” “A final thank you to you — the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true.”
Whether or not this means Aerosmith will no longer release any new music remains to be seen.
Tickets for the tour purchased via Ticketmaster will automatically be refunded to their buyers. People who purchased through third-party resale website (SeatGeek, StubHub, VividSeats, and more) are advised to reach out to their point of purchase for refund details.

It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours. In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives.
We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision — as a band of brothers — to retire from the touring stage.
We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time. Grateful to our expert crew, our incredible team and the thousands of talented people who’ve made our historic runs possible. A final thank you to you — the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true.
