Addison Rae has just released her brand new single, titled “Aquamarine.”
Unlike the Americana aesthetic of the viral hit “Diet Pepsi,” the newly-released track embraces ’90s Eurodance influences –– complete with twinkling synth elements, steady club beats, and Rae’s soft yet dreamy vocals that evoke a sensual (if provocative) nature. It’s highly reminiscent of what Madonna had done on her 1998 album, Ray of Light, but what Rae and collaborators Luka Kloser & Elvira Anderfjärd have accomplished breathe new life into such influences –– rightfully solidifying the 24-year-old’s status as a rising figure in today’s pop landscape.
The announcement of the track was first shared by Rae on her official social media platforms, as she clued audiences and fans alike with its impending release date of October 25, 2024 (Friday). Rae also teased the track even prior to the release of its chart-breaking predecessor, “Diet Pepsi,” with a fifteen-second snippet appearing in the opening scene of the latter’s music video.
To accompany the track’s release, Rae released a music video directed by Sean Price Williams set in the streets of Paris, France. Check out the full visualizer below:
Just recently, the TikTok star’s “Diet Pepsi” made its way all the way up to No. 23 on Billboard Philippines‘ Hot 100 chart, showcasing her mass appeal with the general public. The track and its black-and-white music video have continued to gain further traction on several online spaces and platforms, proving that Rae’s resonance continues to reach new audiences with every passing day.
Rae was also recently part of Charli XCX‘s newly-released Brat remix album, having joined the likes of Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Lorde, The 1975, Tinashe, Caroline Polachek, and more as contributors to the project. Her appearance on the “von dutch” A.G. Cook remix marks her second collaboration with Charli, following the latter’s guest feature on Rae’s debut extended-play AR for the the track “2 die 4.”
