The hiatus is over! Your favorite boy band and No. 1 obsession, 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS), are back with their brand new single, “NOT OK,” along with the announcement of their sixth studio album, Everyone’s a Star!, set to be released on November 14 under their new label, Republic Records.
The four-piece Australian band is made up of Luke Hemmings on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Michael Clifford on lead guitar, Calum Hood on bass guitar, and Ashton Irwin on drums and percussion
It marks three years since they last released new music solely as a band following their fifth studio album, 5SO5, in 2022, and not including 2024’s “Lighter” — a collaborative single with David Guetta and Galantis.
According to Hemmings, the track carries the band’s signature energy while also exploring new directions. It reflects on embracing one’s darker side and fully leaning into it. The song also serves as a nod to the band as a whole. “Hey, I’m not okay / I like the darker side of me, that part of me / Comes out to play when I’m with you, you / Bite the apple, baby,” the band sings in the chorus.
“This band is made of four people who could all have their own solo albums where they do it all, sing it all, and write it all. [The new album] embodies all of that,” Hemmings shares in an official statement.
“We were teenagers at the beginning of 5 Seconds of Summer. We were writing with more naivete, but we said what we were thinking. As time goes on, you tend to get a bit more cautious about what you say, but I think this record has more of our original spirit — but with 15 years of wisdom and a dash of reckless abandon,” he adds.

The event was streamed live on TikTok and featured performances of their hits, including “Youngblood,” “She Looks So Perfect,” and “Teeth,” along with the debut of several new songs from the upcoming album.
The new single and record follow the release of each band member’s solo projects. Irwin was the first to carve his own solo venture with his debut record Superbloom in 2020, followed by Blood on the Drums in 2024. Meanwhile, Hemmings released When Facing the Things We Turn Away From in 2021 and the Boy EP in 2024. In 2025, Hood dropped ORDER chaos ORDER, and Clifford released Sidequest.
5SOS last visited the Philippines in 2019, when they held an intimate acoustic show for 300 lucky fans at the New Frontier Theater as part of the ‘Just Woke Up in Manila’ tour. They performed songs from their third studio album, Youngblood, as well as tracks from their then-upcoming fourth studio album, CALM.
