University of the Philippines – Diliman’s annual week-long fair is almost here.
Held every first quarter of the year, the UP Fair features six separate concerts organized by student organizations, sororities, and fraternities in the campus. Each night is centered around a certain advocacy and works in partnership with different advocacy organizations. This year, the fair is held from February 12 to 17.

Monday: Hiwaga
ADVOCACY: Human rights and national sovereignty

UP Diliman’s University Student Council teams up with O/C Records yet again to stage Hiwaga. This year, the concert is centered around human rights and national sovereignty, with the student council calling for an end to US occupation in the Philippines, just wages for workers, academic and press freedom, and more. Tuesday: Pop Rising
ADVOCACY: Free and quality education

Pop Rising is the UP Fair day that really doubles down on the biggest and rising stars in P-Pop. So far, only seven acts have been announced, so keep an eye on Pop Rising’s Facebook page and bookmark their official ticketing site to get first dibs on the tickets.
Wednesday: Kalye Tunes
ADVOCACY: Urban poor
TICKET PRICES: P200 for UP students, P300 for Non-UP students

One of the biggest nights in UP Fair is Kalye Tunes, dedicated to bringing in the country’s best hip-hop artists on one stage. For this year’s edition of the show, they’ve brought together some of the biggest names of the past and present hip-hop scene. Thursday: Quests
ADVOCACY: Women and gender empowerment
TICKET PRICES: P200 for UP students, P300 for Non-UP students

The UP Junior Finance Association is set to stage Quests, centered around the advocacy of women and queer empowerment. So far, only four acts have been revealed for the concert. However, tickets have already been available for purchase, with the second round of selling just closing earlier today (January 16). Friday: Elements
ADVOCACY: Peasant rights and genuine agrarian reform

Elements is currently the UP Fair day with the most number of artists currently revealed. Their advocacy revolves around the country’s farmers, fisherfolk, peasants and their rights for genuine agrarian reform in the country. Saturday: REV Music Festival
ADVOCACY: National minorities and protection of indigenous peoples’ rights

Capping off this year’s UP Fair is the REV Music Festival, with the advocacy of protecting the rights of the national minority. This festival combines P-Pop, indie, rock, and more genres into one star-studded event. Check out their Facebook page and ticketing platform for more updates and details.
