New P-pop Girl Group FINA Make Bold Debut Celebrating Filipina Identity

CreaZion Studios and Universal Records Philippines unveil its newest P-pop group, FINA, with a bold introduction to what it means to be proudly Filipina in today’s music scene.

The five-member group formally introduced themselves during their first-ever media appearance at Noctos Music Bar in Diliman, Quezon City, on February 18. The event was anything but simple, as they captivated the crowd with eye-catching, colorful dresses inspired by Philippine folklore — featuring their own takes on the aswang, lobo (wolf), sirena (siren), engkanta (nature fairy), and diwata (fairy).

Making their mark in the growing wave of female P-pop acts, FINA proudly incorporates the word “Filipina” into their name, highlighting the diversity and strength of Filipino women.

Despite coming from different backgrounds, upbringings, and being raised in different places across the country, members Anika, Nala, Chill, Cia, and Heaven have a shared dream of performing and showcasing their talents in the realm of the P-pop scene.

Anika, born in Cavite, joined OPM singing contests at a young age. Her love for performing continued into senior high school, where she did dance covers, eventually realizing her dream of becoming a full-fledged performer.

Born Chinese but raised in the Philippines, Nala discovered her passion for performing at just three years old. She fell in love with dance through ballet and later pursued musical theater in college, using music and art as her creative outlets.

Hailing from Cagayan de Oro, Chill has always dreamed of becoming an idol, fueled by her love for singing, dancing, and performing. For her, being an idol means having a platform to spread positivity, inspire others, and stand for meaningful advocacies. She also explored theater and worked as a student jockey before ultimately joining the group.

From Cabanatuan City, Cia never gave up on her idol dream. She auditioned for various groups and companies, and after returning to school and graduating, she seized the opportunity to audition for CreaZion Studios, eventually earning her place in the group.

Last but not least, Heaven, who hails from Quezon City, always aspired to appear on television and began her journey as a commercial model. Years later, becoming a P-pop idol has fulfilled her lifelong dream of showcasing her talents as a performer.

Like most P-pop groups and the global idol culture, members typically have designated roles. However, with FINA, everyone stands on equal footing. Each member has the opportunity to explore various roles — whether as vocalist, dancer, rapper, visual, center, or maknae (bunso).

For FINA, the goal is simple: to grow together as a group. On the other hand, their official fandom, FINEST, can expect exciting things ahead. The group has already teased a Bisaya track in the pipeline and plans to incorporate different dialects into their music.

Setting themselves apart from other groups, FINA hope to create songs that are not only fun to listen to but also rich in storytelling, highlighting and uplifting Philippine culture.

When asked what a modern Filipina artist should embody, the members shared that women should remain authentic — especially in a world that often expects them to fit into a single mold. Through their music and message, they hope to encourage women not to be afraid to be themselves.

They also emphasized the importance of embracing every part of who you are — including flaws — and learning to grow from them. For FINA, vulnerability is not a weakness but an act of strength. Ultimately, the group aims to prove that P-pop is versatile and not confined to one style, while proudly showcasing Filipino identity on the global stage through their music.

FINA make their debut with “Paramdam,” a track that invites listeners to let loose and have fun. Accompanying the single is a music video featuring choreography inspired by Philippine mythological creatures and folklore.
