Sony Music Entertainment has recently appointed Kevin Foo as Managing Director for Southeast Asia, overseeing operations in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand, effective immediately. Foo is set to lead the company’s efforts to accelerate growth, drive artist development, and deepen fan engagement in these rapidly expanding markets.

Based in Singapore, Foo will report to Shridhar Subramaniam, President, Asia and Middle East, Sony Music Entertainment. He is set to manage a dynamic team, including the General Managers of Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines, as well as the Vice President of International Marketing for Southeast Asia.

“Kevin has an unmatched ability to bridge the gap between artists, markets, and audiences, creating lasting commercial and cultural impact,” said Subramaniam in an official statement. “His regional expertise and unwavering passion for artist development make him the perfect leader to steer our Southeast Asia strategy forward.”

As he embraces his new role, Foo brings extensive experience from his previous roles as Managing Director of RCA Records Greater China and General Manager of SME Taiwan, where he spearheaded innovative artist collaborations and contributed to the success of various Asian artists. Over the COVID pandemic, he also spearheaded an ambitious cross-border collaboration that united 15 artists from eight countries under the SME banner.

“I am honoured to take on this new role and look forward to building on SME’s strong foundation in the region,” said Foo. “This is an exciting time for music in the region as we see local music like P-pop, Dangdut and T-pop expand its reach internationally. I hope to work with our incredible artists and teams to create new opportunities, amplify voices, and shape the future of music here.”

Foo’s appointment underscores Sony Music’s commitment to further strengthening its presence in Southeast Asia, a region known for its digital-first audience and evolving music consumption trends. As the region and its digital-first audience continues to reshape music consumption and fan engagement worldwide, Foo is poised to lead the charge in fostering new talent and innovating ways to connect local audiences with global artists.
