As the year comes to a close, Billboard Philippines looks back on the chart-toppers that defined 2024 via their music based on the Philippines Hot 100 Year-End chart.
Throughout the year, it was OPM artists like TJ Monterde, Maki, and BINI who dominated the sonic landscape of the Philippines in 2024 — standing out as the most-streamed artists (both local and international) in the country. Monterde’s beloved hit single “Palagi” reigns supreme at the No. 1 spot (boosted even further by the recently-released duet rendition with his wife, KZ Tandingan), and is closely followed by Maki’s vibrant chart-topper “Dilaw,” which comes in at the No. 2 spot.
BINI holds the fort at the No. 3 and No. 4 positions with their catchy yet inescapable hit tracks “Pantropiko” and “Salamin, Salamin” from their latest EP Talaarawan, proving their immense hold over Philippine listeners as the No. 1 artists in the country this year. At No. 5 is Billie Eilish‘s soaring ballad “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” from her album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, while Dionela and Jay R‘s “Sining” stands at the No. 6 spot.
Hev Abi comes in at No. 7 and No. 8 with “Walang Alam” and his collaboration track with gins&melodies, “Babaero,” showcasing just how impressive the reach of Filipino hip-hop has grown over this year alone. At the penultimate spot of No. 9 stands Ariana Grande‘s second single from her album eternal sunshine, “we can’t be friends (wait for your love),” while Sabrina Carpenter‘s breezy summer hit “Espresso” closes off the Top 10.
Elsewhere on the Year-End Philippines Hot 100, OPM continues to dominate the chart thanks to the hit tracks of Cup of Joe, Arthur Nery, Up Dharma Down, Kristina Dawn, Janine, and Rob Deniel which are spread across the Top 25 alone. Going beyond, Adie, Janine Berdin, O SIDE MAFIA, BRGR, Ben&Ben, Sunkissed Lola, Over October, Juan Karlos, Zack Tabudlo, Eliza Maturan, Young Blood Neet, Al James, Hellmerry, and Cean Jr. serve as just some of the representatives of the Philippine music scene who defined some of the biggest songs of 2024.
The Billboard Philippines Year-End charts aggregate data from every week of the year, measuring total streams, airplay impressions, and sales units. Our year-end charts highlight songs and artists that defined the soundtrack of the year, revealing the types of music that resonated most with Filipino audiences, shedding light on consumer preferences to showcase the growing importance of streaming over traditional sales or the continued relevance of an artist or their songs over the past twelve months.
With the analyzed data, artists who top year-end charts are often those who have demonstrated versatility and sustained engagement. Whether through releasing multiple tracks, collaborating with other artists, or dominating airplay and streams across the nation, their performance reflects a year’s worth of strategic effort.
