Weverse, the dedicated superfan platform from HYBE, is taking fan engagement to the next level with the launch of its new in-app music streaming service, Listening Party.

This innovative feature allows artists and fans to host virtual listening events where they can enjoy curated playlists together, chat in real time, and share the experience in an immersive new way. The service, which integrates Spotify as its primary streaming partner, is designed to enhance interaction between artists and their most dedicated followers. However, to use Listening Party, users must have both a Premium Spotify account and a Weverse profile.

Described as “a new way of communication” for fans, artists, and labels through music,” Weverse’s new service is part of the company’s broader strategy to deepen its connection with global fans while helping artists tap into fresh avenues for fan-driven promotion. The platform believes that “Listening Party” offers a dynamic new channel for interaction, allowing fans to engage with their favorite artists in real time, while also supporting them directly through active streaming.

“We are constantly working to elevate the fan experience,” said Joon Choi, President of Weverse. “With features like Listening Party, we aim to foster ongoing interaction between artists and their fans, and empower artists to take full advantage of direct-to-fan engagement opportunities.”

While any Weverse account may join the in-app listening events, only subscribers to Weverse’s Digital Membership program (a paid service that was launched last December 2024) will be able to host these virtual “Listening Parties.” For a monthly fee, Digital Members can gain access to premium features like the ability to host events, real-time translations in thirteen languages, offline playlist saving, AI-powered video enhancement, and additional exclusive content on the superfan platform. Though Weverse’s Digital Membership fee is still in its early stages, HYBE’s CFO Kyung-Jun Lee notes that the service is expected to see gradual revenue growth, with monetization set to kick off in January 2025 following a one-month free trial period.

The announcement of the brand new Listening Party feature comes just a few months after Weverse revealed impressive stats in its 2024 Global Fandom Trend Report, which showed a 30% increase in artist communities on the platform, bringing the total to 162. As of December 2024, the platform boasts 9.4 million monthly active users, and has achieved a new milestone of 150 million global downloads.
