Jun of SEVENTEEN has been named youth ambassador of the 7th Hainan Island International Film Festival, which is set to take place from December 3 to 9, 2025, in Sanya, Hainan Province, China.

The announcement came from PLEDIS Entertainment and stated that the K-pop idol will represent the festival’s seventh edition, with his role in helping connect younger audiences with cinema in the Chinese region. Additionally, renowned French actress Juliette Binoche is also named ambassador for the festival.

Jun recently starred in the 2025 action thriller The Shadow’s Edge, which also starred Jackie Chan and Tony Leung Ka-fai. After its theatrical release in Beijing in August, it was screened at the 30th Busan International Film Festival’s Open Cinema section in September.

The South Korean singer-actor made his film debut in the 2007 drama The Pye Dog. This earned him the Best New Performer from the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild the following year and became the first Chinese child actor nominated for Best New Performer at the 27th Hong Kong Film Awards.

The Hainan Island International Film Festival was first held from December 9 to 16, 2016, and features forums, ceremonies, and competitions throughout its festival run. Various international personalities have made appearances in the festival through the years, including Bollywood legend Aamir Khan and Hollywood stars like Johnny Depp, Nicolas Cage, and Mads Mikkelsen.
