South Korean singer-actress Sandara Park has revealed that she is open to the possibility of dating someone from the Philippines.
On the November 10 episode of Bam House, the YouTube channel of GOT7 member BamBam, the host told his guest how she would probably not end up marrying a Korean.
“I think I could match well with a foreigner, too. I always thought like that,” Park admitted.
BamBam then raised the possibility of Park dating a Filipino, to which she replied affirmatively: “Maybe, because Filipinos are very romantic.”
She mentioned how gifting flowers is considered basic in the Philippines, where she recalled how someone flew their significant other via helicopter to Tagaytay and had dinner there.
The host asked his guest if she felt jealous, which she confirmed.
“I was, but it’s not the helicopter I was jealous about. It’s about the romantic side of Filipinos. ‘Will you be my girlfriend?’ They would kneel down and propose like that. Give flowers, too. It’s the complete version of a sweet person.”
Park launched her singing-acting career in the Philippines after finishing as runner-up of Star Circle Quest in 2004. She later debuted in South Korea as a member of the best-selling K-pop girl group 2NE1.
Notwithstanding, Park was already a household name in the Philippines. Here, her eponymous debut EP Sandara sold over 100,000 physical copies as the only album by a South Korean artist to be certified platinum by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry. Due to her quirky personality, she was dubbed locally as the “Pambansang Krung Krung”.
Park remains in and out of the country, as seen in her recent visits to BamBam’s Manila concert as well as a comeback performance of her song “Festival” on noontime show It’s Showtime earlier in September. She was also supposed to perform at a Cebu concert the same month but learned that the event was postponed due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
