Sabrina Carpenter is sharing the stage with the beloved puppet characters in The Muppet Show revival on Disney+ in 2026, to celebrate the classic show’s 50th anniversary.

Carpenter joins as a guest star for the variety show special, which could also potentially serve as a backdoor pilot for a fresh new take on the series.

The special will feature long-time Muppet performers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel, accompanied by additional performers.

Alex Timbers will direct the episode with Albertina Rizzo as writer. Timbers and Rizzo will also serve as executive producers, alongside Carpenter, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee, to name a few.

This project for Disney+ comes after the release of the Muppets Haunted Mansion Halloween special in 2021 and The Muppets Mayhem musical comedy television miniseries.

Created by iconic puppeteer and animator Jim Henson, The Muppet Show originally aired in the US and the UK during its first syndication run from 1976 to 1981. It featured notable guest performers and stars like Elton John, Diana Ross, Joan Baez, Johnny Cash, Liza Minelli, and Paul Simon of Simon & Garfunkel.

Just recently, Carpenter was announced as one of the headliners of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in 2026, which also includes BINI as performers, becoming the first all-Filipino girl group to grace the Coachella stage.
