On her episode on the Awards Chatter, The Hollywood Reporter asked Rodrigo what she is most excited about in her upcoming tour celebrating her latest album, GUTS. In response, the singer shared, “I’m so stoked. I think it’s going to be so much fun to play those kinds of rock songs in an arena too. I’m so excited to feel that energy. I’m so excited to go places that I haven’t been before. I’m really excited to go to the Philippines — I’ve never been — so that’s going to be fun. And I love my band. I have an all-girl band, and they’re so wonderful and such great musicians. It’s going to be fun.”
Earlier this year, she announced her GUTS World Tour, with stops in North America, the United Kingdom, and Europe. She has yet to announce tour dates for Asia and Australia. The tour will commence in February in Palm Springs, California and will conclude in Los Angeles in August.
Rodrigo is half-Filipino, with her father being Filipino-American. She is one of the most nominated artists for the upcoming GRAMMYs, with six nominations including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Rock Song.
In a review of the album by Billboard Philippines, we wrote, “With GUTS, she dabbles towards an energetic pop-punk sound that she’s completely embraced as her own––which in itself is a far cry from the more somber ballads presented on her critically acclaimed debut, Sour, playing around with new sonic elements. Along with that versatility comes a (righteous) sense of anger towards the hardships of growing up and finding her place in this world, and Rodrigo is unashamed to show it––no matter what anyone has to say about it.”
