American singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus — who is also part of indie supergroup boygenius — makes her directorial debut for the music video of her latest single “Best Guess.” The track is part of her upcoming fourth studio album, Forever Is A Feeling, out on March 28.
The music video features notable artists and personalities: English model and actress Cara Delevingne, British singer-songwriter Towa Bird, American guitarist Naomi McPherson of the indie pop band MUNA, and Grey’s Anatomy star E.R. Fightmaster.
The song is described as “an anthem of queer tenderness,” according to the press release. The video, on the other hand, features Dacus and a group of “hot mascs” dressed in suits. They are seen doing traditionally masculine activities such as arm-wrestling, boxing, and doing push-ups, as well as playing darts, pool, and poker.
Earlier in January, Dacus went to TikTok for a casting call on “hot mascs,” or “people who are smooth and suave enough to pretend to be hot mascs,” to star in the music video for the then-unnamed song. Based on the resulting clip, it seems like her casting call did not disappoint.
