This September, grentperez is granting a one-of-a-kind backstage access into his time supporting Rex Orange County on tour last 2023.
The Filipino-Australian singer-songwriter — real name Grant Perez — will premiere a 33-minute documentary that promises to deliver an “immersive, exclusive experience” on his time touring with Rex Orange County — an “inspiration-turned-friend” — across Australia, as well as Japan, Singapore, and the Philippines. Co-presented by publication and agency SAVOIR-FAIRE! and grentperez’s label Fast Friends, the film — entitled pressing for pluto — is set to come out this September 5 on grentperez’s YouTube channel.
In a press statement, the documentary promises to leave viewers “rethinking what you know about grentperez, offering an insider’s view into the defining moments of his career — an adventure even his most devoted fans haven’t seen.” It will detail the career-defining moments in Perez’s career as he takes on multiple packed arenas all over Australia and Asia as he serves as Rex Orange County’s personally handpicked special guest. This includes “the roaring applause of two sold-out nights in [Perez’s] hometown of Sydney,” his first time performing in Tokyo, as well as him “navigating the pressures of performing in iconic venues like Smart Araneta Coliseum” in Manila.
In addition, pressing for pluto will not just showcase “never-before-seen on-stage perspectives and electrifying performances that reflect [Perez’s] exhilaration of breaking new ground, and a glimpse at the introspection of realizing lifelong dreams.” Ultimately, it will also offer the likes of “candid backstage conversations and guards-down moments on the bustling streets of Harajuku,” spotlighting Perez’s “evolving friendship” with Rex Orange County throughout the tour.
Furthermore, pressing for pluto is described as “a story about love” — one that explores Perez’s “love for music, love for his fans, and love
for those closest to him.” It provides a brand new peek into his creative process as it captures “the raw energy of his performances and the diverse inspirations that fuel his sound.” This includes everything “from the exhilarating rush of playing new music for the first time to the quiet
moments of reflection in hotel rooms and on long flights” as the film showcases the kind of artist Perez is — one who “constantly steps out of his own comfort zone while staying true to his roots.” Ultimately, it serves as retelling of what has become a “life-changing adventure” for Perez – one that has seen him grow as an artist, a friend, and a person.”
