Charli XCX is pop star by day and film producer by night as she has an idea for the next Final Destination film.
The Brat popstar took to TikTok to express her adoration for the beloved horror-thriller franchise, Final Destination. The series returned to the spotlight with the sixth installment, Final Destination Bloodlines, which became the best-reviewed and highest-grossing entry in the series.
To prepare for the latest installment, she’s been watching the previous films in the franchise. “The reason I love these movies is that they really just are about hot people getting killed. You know, there’s no moral backbone to the story, it really is just, ‘they’re hot, they’re cursed and they deserve to die,” she says.
In some wacky “what if?” idea from the GRAMMY-winning singer, she pitches an “It Girl” version of a Final Destination film with even a director and cast in mind, saying, “Kind of like, Rachel Sennott, Alex Consani, Gabbriette, Romy Mars, Me, Quenlin Blackwell, Devon Lee Carlson […]”
Charli adds that there needs to be a “scream queen” in the cast like Jenna Ortega or the “OG scream queen” Sissy Spacek, best known for playing the titular role in Carrie. As a cherry on top, the film would have to be directed by a horror auteur.
The “Apple” singer clearly knows her horror game. Last month, it was announced that she would produce and star in the next film from Japanese horror filmmaker Takashi Miike, who is known for directing the acclaimed horror films Audition and Ichi the Killer.
Additionally, Charli said that the film wouldn’t have to change the formula, as the previous films have poked fun at their own lore. “It’s really not trying to do anything other than have hot people die in the most brutal ways and play with some unbelievable dialogue,” she adds.
