Charli XCX continues her Brat domination at the 2025 BRIT Awards, which recognizes excellence in British and international music, taking home five awards — including the night’s biggest honors — at The O2 Arena in London, last March 1 (March 2 Philippine Time).

The British singer-songwriter took home the prestigious Album of the Year award for her groundbreaking sixth studio album, Brat, and was named British Artist of the Year, Best Dance Act, and Songwriter of the Year — the honorary prize she was previously nominated four times in 2015, 2020, 2023, and 2024. She also won the Song of the Year Award for “Guess, her duet with Billie Eilish.

The singer’s sweep at the BRITs further solidified her artistry and the album that became a cultural phenomenon last summer.

The 32-year-old pop star said she always felt like an outsider, particularly in the British music industry. She spent many years as a songwriter for others and even moved to the United States to be recognized as a true artist, saying, “It feels really nice to be recognized on this album, when I haven’t made any sacrifices.”

“I would just like to share this with all artists who have ever felt that they need to compromise to be recognized and to have their moment in the sun because I think I’m living proof that maybe it takes a long time, but… you don’t need to compromise your vision,” she added.

There won’t be another record like Brat again, as the hyperpop virtuoso noted that it’s in her instinct to not do the same thing twice. Fans can expect an entirely different album and type of music for her next era.

Meanwhile, Charli’s executive producer and longtime collaborator of over seven years, A.G. Cook, won Producer of the Year. Cook worked with Charli on Number 1 Angel, Pop 2, Charli, how i’m feeling now, and Brat. He has also worked with other artists like Beyoncé, Troye Sivan, Caroline Polachek, and Christine & The Queens.
