Calling all those who want to join an exciting new barkada. Bagets The Musical, the upcoming stage musical adaptation of the beloved 1984 coming-of-age Filipino film, is now holding auditions for its principal cast.

Auditions will be held at the PETA Theater Center Studios, 5 Sunnyside Drive, Quezon City, on July 14 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on July 15 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Interested applicants must complete the official audition form on or before July 10 here.

Callbacks are scheduled on July 21 and 22, with details to be announced. The principal roles include:

  • Tonton (originally played by William Martinez)
  • Adie (Aga Muhlach)
  • Gilbert (Herbert Bautista)
  • Topee (J.C. Bonnin)
  • Arnel (Raymond Lauchengco)

The cast also includes ensemble roles for classmates, teachers, faculty, and family members who will form the world around the Bagets in their journey toward manhood.

The auditions are open to male and female performers aged 15 to 50 who can sing, act, and dance.

Audition Requirements

  • Age: The Bagets (preferably 16 to 22 years old), supporting female teen characters (15 to 18 years old), Ivy / Adie’s older crush (30 to 40 years old), Tita Nena (40 to 50 years old)
  • What to prepare: 16 bars of a pop ballad, 16 bars of an upbeat ’80s song, or a 16-bar dance routine
  • Materials: latest CV, a head shot, and a full-body photo

Rehearsals will commence from October to November 2025 at the PETA Theater Center.

A joint production of Viva Entertainment, The Philippine STAR, and Newport World Resorts, Bagets The Musical is scheduled to run from January 23 to March 2026 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Newport World Resorts.

The original 1984 film, directed by Maryo J. de los Reyes, follows the titular teenagers as they navigate the adventures and challenges of their final year in high school, transitioning from boyhood to manhood.
