BABYMETAL and CAPCOM are officially joining forces to celebrate 30 years of Resident Evil next year.

The news was announced on November 2, 2025 (Sunday) through a teaser video featuring the iconic character Lady Alcina Dimitrescu — one of the primary antagonists of the Japanese survival horror video game series’ 2021 game Resident Evil Village. In the video, Lady Dimitrescu reminds viewers that “it’s almost Resident Evil’s 30th anniversary” with the franchise and BABYMETAL set to celebrate the milestone by “releasing collaborative goods.”

Specific details on the special merchandise collection have yet to be revealed. Watch this space for updates.

Resident Evil (or Biohazard in Japan) is recognized as the best-selling horror game series of all-time and is regarded as a trailblazer in the survival horror genre of video games. Players typically take on the role of characters with the goal of surviving in settings filled with zombies or similar antagonists. The first game in the series, Resident Evil, was released in 1996, created by Shinji Mikami (The Evil Within, Ghostwire: Tokyo) and Tokuro Fujiwara (Mega Man).

In addition to the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil next year, the latest game in the franchise, entitled Resident Evil Requiem, is set to come out. It is set to be released on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Meanwhile, the upcoming collaboration is BABYMETAL latest foray into the world of video games. The kawaii metal pioneers previously had their songs included in various rhythm games over the years, as well as in Fortnite, WWE 2K25, and more. Additionally, the group also teamed up with Roblox for the horror game BABYMETAL MONSTERS and even created a browser game for “RATATATA” — their collaboration single with German electronicore icons Electric Callboy.
