Ariana Grande is a gift that keeps on giving. Along with eternal sunshine deluxe: brighter days ahead, she’s making her directorial debut with Brighter Days Ahead, a short film accompanying its release on March 28.
The short film continues the story of “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” music video, which explores the concept of erasing memories, and the emotional journey of love, loss, and self-discovery, inspired by the beloved 2004 Michel Gondry film, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which her album references.
Created with music video director Christian Breslauer, who has worked with the likes of Lil Nas X, Doja Cat, Lizzo, and SZA. Grande teased the project with a short trailer on Instagram, which opens with a robotic voice saying, “Welcome back, Peaches,” referencing the character introduced in the music video mentioned above.
Grande also released the film’s poster, which features her levitating above the ground with rubble scattered below. The Grammy-winning artist teased the project at the Golden Globes earlier this year, mentioning that something she created last year, an “attachment of eternal sunshine,” will be released eventually.
March 28 will see a full-fledged extended edition of eternal sunshine in all of its glory. A “slight deluxe” version of the album was released after its initial release last year. It included a version of “Yes, And?” with Mariah Carey, “Supernatural” with Troye Sivan, an acoustic version of “Imperfect For You,” and an a cappella version of “True Story.”
