After six years in the making, 9 Works Theatrical is set to unveil Liwanag sa Dilim, an original Filipino musical powered by the timeless hits of Rico Blanco.

The upcoming production is scheduled to open to the public this March 7, 2025 at the RCBC Plaza, Ayala Avenue, in Makati City, and promises an all-star lineup of talents –– which include actors like Alexa Ilacad, Khalil Ramos, and Rita Daniela. The three performers were announced alongside the rest of the cast through a video posted by 9 Works Theatrical on their official social media platforms over the past week, with solo posters featuring each cast member being posted online as well.

Joining the ensemble cast are CJ Navato, Neomi Gonzales, Jasper Jimenez, Vien King, Denzel Chang, Lucylle Tan, and Brianna Bunagan, with the show also starring Derrick Gozos, Mark Tayag, Iya Villanueva, Nicole Omillo, Anthony Rosaldo, Rica Laguardia, Jasper John Jimenez, Raul Montesa, Jon Abella, and Boo Gabunada.

Liwanag Sa Dilim marks the latest entry into the growing line of OPM-inspired musical productions, following the likes of the Parokya Ni Edgar inspired Buruguduystunstugudunstuy, One More Chance: The Musical featuring Ben&Ben‘s music, and the critically-acclaimed Ang Huling El Bimbo: A Musical that was inspired by the work of the Eraserheads.

Though no further details were shared with regard to the actors’ roles, plot details, or what songs from Blanco are included in the show, the book and direction of the forthcoming production is being done by Robbie Guevara.

Make sure to stay tuned to this space or at 9 Works Theatrical’s official pages for more updates on the production.
