Filipina actress-singer Nadine Lustre and Filipino-American rapper Apl.de.Ap have joined forces for a new hip-hop pop single titled “Donuts.”

Released under Cool Girl Records, the pop rap track blends English and Tagalog with lyrics that explore confidence and owning one’s narrative. Reflecting on the collaboration, the 32-year-old artist shared photos with the Black Eyed Peas founding member on social media, describing the experience as “a little surreal making music with a legend.”

The collaborative single sees the singer leaning into rap, addressing gossip and outside noise with an assured attitude. In one verse, she raps, “All I’m trying to do is mind my business / While these wannabes make money off chismis.” Meanwhile, Apl.de.Ap closes his verse with a nod to Philippine history, rapping, “We’ve been known to do too much / We gon’ be doing that ’til we dust / We gon’ show you how it’s done / Like what Datu did in Mactan.

“Donuts” was composed by Kahlil Atienza, Isagani Palabyab, and Elijiah Wudz B. Bitacura, with lyrics written by Ivo Impreso. Palabyab also produced the track, with Lustre credited as both composer and lyricist.

Released on September 4, 2026, an official lyric video followed on September 6, 2026, shared by Lustre across her social media platforms.

The single comes shortly after “Personal,” which dropped on July 31, 2026, marking Lustre’s first musical release since 2023. Compared with the pop-driven sound of “Personal,” “Donuts” takes a more hip-hop-leaning approach, exploring her range as an artist.

Outside of music, the actress-singer has remained active in film and television during her three-year break from releasing music. She reunited with director Mikhail Red for the horror film Nokturno, following their work together on the 2022 film Deleter. She also starred in the 2024 film Uninvited and the 2025 film Call Me Mother. She currently stars alongside Alden Richards in the 2026 series Love, Siargao.

For Apl.de.Ap, “Donuts” adds to a career spanning music, production, and philanthropy. As a founding member of the Grammy Award-winning hip-hop group Black Eyed Pease, he has been part of global hits including “I Gotta Feeling,” “Meet Me Halfway,” and “Where Is The Love?” He has also highlighted his Filipino roots through “Bebot” and “The Apl Song.” In June 2026, he collaborated with Illest Morena and fana on “Wind It.”
