Filipino singer-songwriter and musician Mark Carpio returns with an emotional R&B ballad, “Bawat Sulok.”
“Bawat Sulok,” or “every corner” in English, explores his emotional storytelling through his music, centering on lost love, regret, and how we begin to understand the value of someone after losing them. The track is inspired by song co-writer Stephen Atok’s experience of a five-year relationship ending, which became the emotional foundation of the song.
The song “speaks to the things we regret saying, the things we never got to say, the apologies we never gave, and the moments we took for granted. It is about that painful “what if” — what if I had tried harder, understood more, or appreciated you while you were still here?” according to the press release.
It ultimately reminds us that we begin to understand someone’s value after loss, with every corner becoming a reminder of the person we wish we had valued while they were still there.
Co-written by Carpio and Atok, the track was produced and mixed by Nikhil Amarnani of Line In Studios, with mastering by Raywyn Zayne. Additionally, Thor Dulay provided backing vocals, Jameson and Jhay contributed keys, with Jhay also handling programming, while Otep played drums and Oman played bass.
