On November 24, 2025 (Monday), Lemuel “Lem” Belaro announced his departure from the hit-making OPM band LILY (formerly Callalily). As one of the band’s original members, Belaro has been LILY’s chief songwriter, drummer, backup vocalist, and percussionist since their inception in 2005.
In his social media post announcing his departure from the band, the drummer wrote a sincere message, sharing that difficulties in coordinating with the management structure, marketing strategies, and the like ultimately led to his decision. Furthermore, he emphasizes that he will continue his career in music, with a renewed purpose to support the growth of the local music scene. Read Lem Belaro’s full statement below:
“I want to start by expressing my deep respect and appreciation for the original members. The history we built together over the years will always matter to me, and I am grateful for every moment we shared in creating music and growing as a band.

To all the fans, supporters, and friends who have stood by us since the earliest Callalily days, thank you. For 20 years, it has been an honor to serve as the band’s drummer, composer, and someone who helped navigate challenges and ensure the band’s stability. Every performance, every song, and every shared moment shaped my craft, my character, and my life.
Today, I announce that my journey with LILY has come to an end, following the band’s decision. Closing this chapter is difficult, but I face it with clarity and strength.
During my time with the band, I took on many responsibilities to keep things running smoothly and to protect the band’s reputation. Despite these efforts, addressing the growing challenges became increasingly difficult. My departure is largely due to the growing confusion within the management structure and several marketing approaches and promotional strategies that have felt misaligned with the professionalism and integrity our supporters deserve. These strategies carried risks and it has already affected the band’s reputation.

Still, I move forward without resentment. I will not speak negatively about anyone involved. I choose peace, gratitude, and the understanding that growth sometimes requires letting go.
I sincerely wish the remaining members of Lily success and fulfillment as they continue their journey.
As for me, my commitment to music remains unwavering. I will keep composing, drumming, and supporting our local music community with renewed purpose. I am dedicating more time to music charity work, helping young and undiscovered musicians find their voice, and opening doors for artists who simply need someone to believe in them.

Thank you for your trust and unwavering support throughout the years. You have been with me through every milestone, and your belief in me has been a true source of strength.
A new chapter begins now, shaped by everything I have learned and everything I still dream of creating. With it comes a new sound, a new vision, and a new home.”
