Worlds collide as global girl group KATSEYE and rapper Megan Thee Stallion team up with M3GAN 2.0 in promotional marketing campaigns for the latest science fiction action film.
The global girl group connected with M3GAN 2.0 via FaceTime in a playful crossover moment. Both the group and the AI icon exchanged compliments, celebrating the simultaneous release of KATSEYE’s latest EP Beautiful Chaos and the U.S. premiere of M3GAN 2.0 on Friday, June 27.
During the call, M3GAN 2.0 cheekily calls the group “a threat,” to which member Manon Bannerman responds, “We’ll take that as a compliment.” The group’s Megan Skiendiel even invited the android to join KATSEYE, saying, “We’d make room for you.”
M3GAN 2.0 replies, “That would be gnarly.” As the quick video chat ends, she jokes that she had already learned the group’s choreography, just in case something happens to their Megan.
On the other hand, Megan Thee Stallion’s meeting with M3GAN 2.0 starts off with a creepy atmosphere. As she spends her downtime getting ready in a hotel room, she appears to be stalked by the M3GAN bots.
Eventually, she joins them in a twerking session set to Britney Spears’ “Oops!… I Did It Again.” Dressed in pink pajamas, Megan even drops into a split before the ad ends.
Set two years after the events of the first film, M3GAN 2.0 swaps the original’s horror elements for action. M3GAN’s creator, Gemma, resurrects her to take down Amelia, short for Autonomous Military Engagement Logistics and Infiltration Android, a military-grade weapon developed by a defense contractor to rival M3GAN.
