Jolianne is back with a brand new single, entitled “Favorite Friend.”

Released on June 27, 2025 (Friday), the R&B-pop singer-songwriter first announced the new track last June 18, 2025, teasing the dreamy song through a short video and making the link to the song’s demo available on her Instagram account. Following this, she posted another video on her social media, revealing that the song is about “how it feels being in love with someone [you] can only love from afar [because you] can’t ruin the friendship.”

“Favorite Friend” serves as the follow-up to Jolianne’s debut EP Plain Girl, which came out earlier this year on January 31. It contains the singles “Plain Girl,” “I’ll Be Somebody You Want,” “Afterthought,” and “Let Me Down Easy.” In addition, the upcoming new single also follows Plain Girl: retake – a collection of songs which contains live renditions of all the tracks on Plain Girl, as well as their original versions. This special record was released on March 7, 2025.

“I want people to feel like there isn’t any rush to life,” stated Jolianne in a Billboard Philippines-exclusive interview when asked what she wanted listeners to take away from her music, especially the songs on Plain Girl. “That there is no set timeline that everybody has to follow, and you really just have to go at your own pace. Because I feel like for most of the project, I talked a lot about rushing into things. But you kind of just have to go at your own pace.”

In other news, Jolianne shared the stage with Kehlani, Jenevieve, RINI, Raveena, James Reid, and mrld earlier this year at the first Manila iteration of PLUS63 Festival last February 2025. Meanwhile, ahead of the release of Plain Girl, Billboard Philippines handpicked her to be part of our ’10 Filipino Artists To Look Out For This 2025′ list, where we spotlighted “her fusion of smooth R&B and laid-back pop” that can be “distinguished by the dreamy timbre of her voice.”
