Today (June 13, 2025), the rising rookie group of P-pop, GAT, have come out with their latest pre-debut single entitled “Marikit.” The song is another cover of an OPM cult classic, “Marikit” by Juan Caoile and Kyleswish, that originally came out in 2020.

This marks the group’s fourth single release of the year, with the most recent, “Rainbow,” having premiered just last June 6, 2025. As the group gears up for their official debut, they continue to release covers of Philippine pop classics, like their viral rendition of “Daleng Dale,” which was originally recorded by MMJ.

GAT have been selected as part of Billboard Philippines’ P-pop Rising Class of 2025. Here, the group was celebrated for their great potential to push the genre forward and bring P-pop to greater heights. In the most recent episode of Billboard Philippines’ Volumes, the group’s eldest, Ethan David, shared his insight on the meaning behind P-pop’s rise: “For me, P-pop’s rise is more of helping each other — from the groups to the fans. It’s like a community, so we really have to lift each other up.”

Although their debut date has yet to be announced, the group has been churning out popular covers of popular Philippine pop songs and establishing their name in the growing P-pop community.
