Legendary rock band Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” roars onto the official trailer of F1, speeding into Philippine cinemas this June 25.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick, Tron: Legacy), F1 stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a former Formula One driver who raced in the ’90s but was forced to retire after a devastating crash. After years away from the F1 circuit, Hayes is recruited by his friend Ruben (Javier Bardem) to come out of retirement and mentor a young prodigy, Joshua “Noah” Pearce (Damson Idris), for his struggling underdog F1 team, Apex Grand Prix (APXGP).
The film also stars Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Tobias Menzies (The Crown), and Kim Bodnia (Killing Eve). They are joined by all ten teams and drivers from the 2023 and 2024 Formula One seasons will also appear, including Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, George Russell, Lando Norris, and Carlos Sainz Jr.
The ending bass line of “The Chain” served as the theme for the BBC’s Formula One coverage from 1978 to 1996 and 2009 to 2015. It was also featured in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, with director James Gunn stating that the song was “most deeply embedded into the fibers of the film.” Additionally, it appeared in the 2017 biographical sports drama I, Tonya, starring Margot Robbie.

Meanwhile, renowned composer Hans Zimmer will serve as the film’s scorer. He previously scored the 2013 biographical sports film, Rush, which centered on the rivalry between two Formula One drivers, James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl) during the 1976 Formula One season.
