Japanese hip-hop/R&B girl group XG will release “IS THIS LOVE” on March 7 as the global campaign song for ANESSA, Shiseido‘s sun care brand.
Originally released last November and included in their second mini-album, AWE, “IS THIS LOVE” will be repackaged and rereleased as a digital single later this week, featuring a piano version, an instrumental, and a piano instrumental.
The girl group was recently announced as the new brand muses for ANESSA, embodying the brand and campaign’s message of being free and confident under the sun. The girl group stars in two commercials released last February 28 — “ANESSA Perfect UV Skincare Gel NA” (The Harmony)” and “Anessa Perfect UV Skincare Milk NA (The Perfect UV),” both featuring their song in the background — along with a one-minute brand film “Free to Shine.”

XG, short for “Xtraordinary Girls,” is a Japanese girl group based in South Korea, debuting in 2022 with a mission to empower young people through their hip-hop and R&B-inspired music. The seven-member group consists of Jurin, Harvey, Hinata, Juria, Chisa, Cocona, and Maya. They have released two mini-albums, one remix album, and six non-album singles.
Alphaz, the group’s fandom, has plenty to look forward to this year. In April, XG will make their Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2025 debut as the only Japanese act in this year’s lineup of performers. On May 14, the group will headline Tokyo Dome for the finale of their first world tour, ‘XG 1st World Tour “The first HOWL.'”
