ONE OR EIGHT are teaming up with Big Sean for a new single
On December 1, the rising Japanese boy group announced that they are set to release a single with Grammy-nominated and 7-time BET Award-winning American rapper Big Sean this December. It will be in the form of a new version of their pre-debut track entitled “Kawasaki,” which went on to hit No. 1 on Billboard Japan‘s Heatseekers Songs chart.
The forthcoming track will mark the first-ever collaboration by Big Sean – known for his team-ups with Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Post Malone, and more – with any Japanese artist. First officially teased last November 18, it is set to come out this December 6 (Friday). Pre-save the single here.
Debuting just last August 16, ONE OR EIGHT is a Japanese eight-member boy group composed of members MIZUKI, NEO, REIA, RYOTA, SOUMA, TAKERU, TSUBASA and YUGA. They are known for infusing “hip-hop and pop effortlessly” and are described as epitomizing “Japanese culture through their choreography, lyrics, and streetwear aesthetic.”
Going by the tagline “Bet On Yourself,” the group’s name is a reference to and a translation of the Japanese phrase “ichi ka bachi ka,” which means “all or nothing.” They debuted with the track “Don’t Tell Nobody,” produced by Ryan Tedder (Taylor Swift, Tate McRae, Adele, Jonas Brothers) as well as David Stewart (BTS), with rap lyrics by Lucien Parker (Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s “STARS”).
