Australian and Filipino indie acts are combining their upbeat sounds for this exciting single.

Today (November 15), Australian indie band Last Dinosaurs debuted a collaboration with Philippine indie darlings Oh, Flamingo! The two bands joined forces to create an alternate version of the former’s well-loved upbeat heartbreak anthem, “Sense.” Taking a fresh spin on the track, Oh, Flamingo! incorporated Tagalog lyrics into the song, blending classic ’90s indie rock elements for a nostalgic twist.

In an official press statement, the Australian band expressed their excitement to be working with Filipino talent, “So excited to have a cool band from the Filipino scene sing some lines on this track in Tagalog. We have fond memories of playing to the super enthusiastic crowds in Manila and having Oh, Flamingo! on the bill should be another big night of dino rock.”

As if in an exchange, Oh, Flamingo! also detailed their thrill to be working on the song, “We’re thrilled to team up with Last Dinosaurs on the Alternate Version of ‘Sense.’ We wanted to put a different spin on it, so we reimagined the story as this back-and-forth between two people. Bringing in Tagalog lyrics helped us put a personal stamp on the song. The language adds this melodic tone that just makes the emotions hit differently. We’re excited for everyone to hear it!”

This team-up is part of a series of collaborations between Last Dinosaurs and various Southeast Asian artists. They previously enlisted the help of Indonesian indie pop band Grrrl Gang for an alternate version of “Eleven.” This series of joint work is part of the incoming re-release of Last Dinosaurs’ 2018 album, Yumeno Garden.

Oh, Flamingo! are also set to open for the Last Dinosaurs’ upcoming concert in Manila this December 8, 2024.
