Alex Gonzaga has just signed with O/C Records for an exclusive recording contract.
The Filipina multi-hyphenate made the announcement via a surprise drop of her new single today (November 8, 2024), with her debut release being a special rendition of Vehnee Saturno’s classic hit song, “Pasulyap-Sulyap.” According to Gonzaga, it was her choice to ink a record deal with O/C Records to showcase her musical capabilities.
While musician Tootsie Guevarra popularized the song itself in the late 1990s, Gonzaga’s rendition retains a distinct charm that makes it a worthy addition to the list of covers of the song. With the track’s lyrical content that speaks to the moments of one’s enamored nature with another person, it captivated Gonzaga to do her own take on the beloved song. “Makaka-relate ang sinumang nakaranas ng kilig at tamis ng bagong pag-ibig sa melody at heartfelt nature ng kanta,” Alex explained, describing what drew her to the classic hit.
(“The song’s melodic and heartfelt nature resonates with anyone who has experienced the thrill and sweetness of budding romance.”)
“Pasulyap-Sulyap” makes the singer-actress’ first release with the label that boasts a lineup that has included Arthur Nery, Adie, mrld, and others — with more music and renditions to classic hits scheduled to be released within the next few months. Just recently, O/C Records also signed rising rapper Ryannah J for an exclusive recording and management contract last month.
