IVE have joined forces with David Guetta for a new English single.
On November 8, the “I AM” K-pop sensations released a brand-new song in collaboration with renowned French DJ and producer David Guetta, entitled “Supernova Love.” While its release was officially announced last November 4, the six-member idol unit first offered a taste of the track last September, debuting it live at their ‘Show What I Have Encore’ concert at Japan’s iconic Tokyo Dome.
The collaboration single notably samples the late Ryuichi Sakamoto’s “Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence” from the 1983 movie of the same name, starring Sakamoto himself alongside David Bowie.
“Supernova Love” serves as the follow-up to IVE’s latest Japanese EP CRUSH, released last August 28; as well as their latest Korean EP IVE SWITCH, released last April 29. In addition, this serves as IVE’s second English single overall following their collaboration with rapper Saweetie on a rendition of Icona Pop’s “All Night,” released earlier this year on January 19.
Notably, IVE were in Manila last July 13 as part of their ‘Show What I Have’ world tour, performing at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. In Billboard Philippines‘ review of the one-night-only concert, we described the show as IVE being able to showcase “immense talent” and “versatility” while serving as “a full-on display of the strong bond between the group and their fans.”
