Lolita Carbon has just accepted the Icon award at this year’s iteration of Billboard Philippines Women In Music awards.

The Philippine folk-rock icon expressed her gratitude at receiving the award, stating “this [award] is worth 50 years.” On stage, she shares her journey in Filipino music and the many bands she’s been a part of, and how all of it has come down to receiving the Icon award.

Carbon was presented with the award by Billboard Philippines‘ Chief of Editorial Content, Bret Jackson, who, upon presenting her with the award, had expressed his admiration for the Asin vocalist’s contributions to the Philippine music scene. “Some artists don’t just make music — they shape what music means for a whole generation,” he stated.
