yung kai has collaborated with MINNIE of K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE for a brand-new version of his hit single “blue.” Initially teased through snippets posted on the Chinese-Canadian singer-songwriter’s TikTok account, the special rendition of the viral track featuring the Thai singer was released on April 18, 2025.
This version notably features an all-new second verse sung by MINNIE, which then leads into duet of the last chorus between her and yung kai. This collaboration track notable serves as MINNIE’s latest release, following her debut solo EP HER, which came out last January 21, 2025.
“blue” was originally released last August 2, 2024. Sooner or later, the heartfelt single skyrocketed in popularity thanks to its widespread usage on social media platforms like TikTok. In the Philippines, it would even go on to peak at No, 4 on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 and has spent a total of 24 weeks on the chart as of the week of April 26, 2025.
“I mean, it’s just crazy because like I never would have expected this scale of my music reaching so many voices,” the hitmaker states in an exclusive interview with Billboard Philippines, noting how he created “blue” simply out of fun and didn’t expect its massive success worldwide, including the Philippines. “It’s just so crazy. Yeah, I just never would have expected it. It’s like a dream.”
yung kai was recently in Manila when he performed as part of the lineup of the tenth edition of Wanderland Music & Arts Festival last March 22-23, 2025. He performed during the second day of the event, sharing the stage with HONNE, Hermitude, Plain White T’s, Urbandub, Dilaw, mindfreakkk, and more.
