The up-and-coming P-pop girl group, YARA, are claiming their space in the local hip-hop scene with an upcoming single composed by JRoa and produced by Yung Bawal, entitled “Sabi Ko Na.” The group came out with the fresh track last April 2, and are set to release the music video for the song tomorrow (April 11, 2025).
In an official press release, the group shared, “This song was heavily inspired by 2000s R&B, expressing raw emotions as they are — no deep words, no hidden meanings, just pure feeling. We also wanted to highlight the unpleasant emotions, as they, too, are a part of us and shape who we are.”
On that note, the song leans into a lush, modern R&B production that’s strongly reminiscent of Philippine hip-hop. Its lyrics are strong, and ring that the group is tired of the games often played in modern dating. The four-piece delved into their connection to the song: “It’s not always easy to admit to yourself that someone special has fooled you, so we hope this song serves as both a reminder and a source of comfort — because, let’s be real, it’s a canon event. Kidding aside, we just want to be part of someone’s moving-on journey, and hopefully, this song helps them heal in the end.”
YARA made their debut on March 10, 2023 with the track “ADDA,” and have been making waves in the Philippine music industry with their distinct color and energy.
