Wolf Alice are entering a new era with The Clearing.
The beloved British rock band have announced their long-awaited studio album together with the coinciding release of a new single, titled “Bloom Baby Bloom.” Scheduled to be released this August 29, 2025, the album was developed in Seven Sisters, North London, England, and recorded in Los Angeles with Grammy Award®-winning master producer Greg Kurstin throughout 2024.
Together with the release of the single, a coinciding music video directed by alt-pop director Colin Solal Cardo was also released. Cardo, known for his collaborations with artists like Charli XCX, Phoenix, and Robyn, deconstructs a classic deoncstructs a classic rock performance by taking inspiration from Bob Fosse and All That Jazz, to feature a brilliant performance from Rowsell in the middle of a host of dancers choreographed by Emmy Award-winning choreographer Ryan Heffington.

In an official press statement, the group described The Clearing as a closer look at “where Wolf Alice stand sonically in 2025, delivering a supremely confident collection of songs bursting with ambition, ideas and emotion.” Their first teaser off the record, “Bloom Baby Bloom,” serves as a brand new reintroduction for the band after a three-year break and has been described as a “whip-smart de-testosteroned twist on heavy rock.”
“I wanted a rock song, to focus on the performance element of a rock song and sing like Axl Rose, but to be singing a song about being a woman,” says Wolf Alice’s frontwoman, Ellie Rowsell. “I’ve used the guitar as a shield in the past, playing it has perhaps been some way to reject the ‘girl singer in band’ trope, but I wanted to focus on my voice as a rock instrument so it’s been freeing to put the guitar down and reach a point where I don’t feel like I need to prove that I’m a musician.”
The Clearing serves as their first album under RCA Records, following their departure from Dirty Hit in February of last year. The record marks the long-awaited follow-up to the band’s third studio album from 2021, Blue Weekend, which was met with critical acclaim from multiple publications worldwide, and even peaked at No. 1 on the UK Albums chart and at No. 34 on Billboard‘s Top Album Sales chart. Blue Weekend spawned several well-received singles such as “The Last Man On Earth” and “How Can I Make It OK?”, and was also shortlisted for a Mercury Prize.
