Opening the year on a somber note is Cebuano singer-songwriter WIJI KUN, who has just released his latest single, “Everything’s Sadder,” under Underdog Music today (January 7, 2026). Written to an alternative rock tune, the lyrics mourn the end of a relationship, remarking that “everything’s sadder now.”
In an official press release, WIJI KUN opened up about his creative process behind the song, “I wrote it a day after breaking it off with someone I spent essentially a long portion of my life with. I remember getting up to switch the lights on in the bedroom, and something about that small, mundane action reminded me that I’m not together with that person anymore. I thought it was interesting how going through my day doing tiny things like that felt so much more miserable and empty just because of that fact.”
He adds that he’d long been hesitant about officially releasing the song, sharing, “The break-up happened a few years back, and I wrote the song pretty fast. It was one of the songs that sat on the shelf for a long time because I really wanted to get it right and do it justice.”
This follows WIJI KUN’s recent release of his special holiday-themed single, “Frostbite,” last December 7, 2025. The songwriter-producer has also hinted that he will soon be dropping a full-length record, following his debut album Year One, which was released in 2022.
WIJI KUN is a Cebu-based artist-producer who blends early 2000s sounds of pop rock with a modern touch. The artist is a member of Cebu supergroup The Sundown and is part of the alt-pop duo Sepia Times with Elisha Ang (also known as IIICCCYYY).
