Just in time for the month of June, Iloilo indie/alternative band The Queens have dropped their latest single entitled “Rock Paper Scissors.” Released as a Pride Month anthem, the song is a punk coming-of-age-esque acceptance letter dedicated to learning how to admit when one is wrong.

In an official press release, it was shared that, “The Queens’ songs, driven heavily by vocalist Lilith Brendan’s songwriting, touch heavily on
‘existential, societal, and unapologetically queer themes.” Additionally, the song marks a chapter of change for the band as well, as they have recently undergone a lineup expansion with the addition of Amiel Jamindang as a third guitarist. “This is the first song written specifically with our three-guitar lineup in mind,” says Brendan. “We also attempted to make breakdowns with bass solos a thing.”

Born and based in Iloilo City, The Queens are a five-member indie rock band founded in 2017 and signed under Melt Records. Composed of members JC Catedral (guitar) Mac Garcisto (drums), Lilith Brendan (vocals). Amiel Jamindang (guitar), and more recently, Mattie Miranda (guitar), the band have a distinct raw quality to their music and songwriting.
