Today (August 8, 2025), four-piece hit-making OPM band The Juans have come out with their latest single entitled “Ako Na Lang.”
In a post announcing the new track, the band wrote a shared statement in its caption: “Sometimes, we only notice the one who’s always been there when it’s already too late.” The track itself is an emotionally charged synth pop track, which depicts a tale of unrequited love, singing from the perspective of someone who yearns to be chosen by a special someone.
This follows their recent collaborative version of “Ano Ba Talaga Tayo?” with power vocalist Janine Berdin, which was released earlier in July of this year — read more about the collaboration here. At the song’s original release, the track was accompanied by a music video directed by Jonathan Manalo, starring Elijah Canlas and Miles Ocampo.
Manalo previously explained the concept behind the short film, “Sobrang relate sa song kasi parang ‘yun talaga ‘yung anchor ng [music video]. [In the music video], gusto naman malaman ni Ari kung ano ba talaga sila [ni Joms]. [‘Yung tanong na ‘Ano ba talaga tayo?’] kasi maraming siyang meaning — pwedeng ‘define the relationship’ or parang ‘Bakit hindi mo ko kayang bitawan?’ So, pinakabubong ni Ari dito sa story is kung paano niya matatapos ang cycle kasi hindi niya talaga matitiis si Joms.“
(The music video really relates to the song cause it’s the main anchor of the story. In the music video, Ari just really wants to know what she is to Joms. The question ‘What are we?’ has a lot of meanings, it can mean defining the relationship or asking ‘Why can’t you let me go?’ So for this, the main point of the story is how Ari can break the cycle with Joms because she can’t resist him.)
This marks The Juans’ fourth musical release of the year, following the band’s single releases: “Pasensyoso,” “best friend,” “Ano Ba Talaga Tayo?” and “Ano Ba Talaga Tayo?” (feat. Janine Berdin).
