After two years of dating, Taylor Swift has officially announced her engagement to American football player Travis Kelce.
The news was shared through a surprise announcement posted on both Swift and Kelce’s official social media platforms, with the post’s caption reading, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” with a dynamite emoji sticking out at the end of the sentence. Accompanying the post was a series of intimate photos in a garden of flowers, which showcased Kelce embracing the pop superstar on his knees, a photo of Swift caressing his head and face, as well as a close-up image of Swift’s massive engagement ring. Also accompanying the post was Swift’s song from The Tortured Poets Department (The Anthology), “So High School.”

News of their engagement follows the couple’s recent joint, record-breaking appearance on Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts alongside his brother (and fellow football player) Jason Kelce. In the podcast episode, Swift officially announced her latest, highly anticipated studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, scheduled for release later this October 3, 2025.
Aside from divulging some teasers and details regarding the upcoming record, Taylor Swift and Kelce also talked about the origin story of how they first met, and how much their relationship has inspired her to take on new hobbies and interests, such as American football.
“This felt more like an ’80s John Hughes movie, and he was just standing outside of my window with a boombox just saying “I wanna date you, I made you a friendship bracelet, Do you wanna date me?” Swift said of Kelce’s public proclamation of his interest in her, two years ago during the Kansas City stop of her groundbreaking Eras World Tour. “So I was like, if this guy isn’t crazy, this is what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager,” Swift continued — before jokingly adding, “This podcast got me a boyfriend!”.
She also went on to tell the New Heights podcast about how patient Kelce was in explaining the dynamics of American football to her, which in turn, converted her into becoming a massive fan of the sport itself. “I fell in love with it. I became obsessed with it. I became a person who was running through the halls of my house, screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy!'” — even before Kelce or anyone else had learned the news.
