Tate McRae is tipping the scale of pop music in her favor with her newly released track, titled “It’s ok I’m ok.”

The Ryan Tedder and ILYA-produced song exudes a wealth of the dark, mid-2000s pop production that we’ve seen from Britney Spears’ Blackout or Ashley Tisdale’s Headstrong albums — although the “greedy” hitmaker manages to make it feel at home with her discography. The lingering hook of its chorus paired with her catchy lyricism make this one heck of a bop, and arguably one of McRae’s strongest singles to date.

“I’m so beyond excited to share “It’s ok I’m ok” with the world and this new chapter of my music,” says the Canadian pop star. “This song is a byproduct of reflecting back on past relationships to now and how much I’ve grown and learned from them. It’s a playful take on knowing your worth and the all too relatable feeling of never wanting someone back.””

To accompany the track’s release, McRae dropped a music video directed by Hannah Lux Davis that showcases her impressive dance skills set against the backdrop of New York City’s streets. Check it out below:

Just last year, McRae dropped her sophomore album THINK LATER, which includes the hit singles “greedy,” “exes,” and “run for the hills.” The album reached a peak position of No. 4 on the Billboard 200 upon release, with the lead single “greedy” ascending as high as No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

This November, McRae is set to perform in Manila, Philippines for the very first time as part of the latter legs of her ongoing Think Later World Tour. Her show is scheduled to take place on November 4, 2024, at the New Frontier Theatre in Quezon City, with tickets priced from Php 1,750 to Php 5,500. Tickets to the show are still available here.
