sombr Releases Highly-Anticipated Debut Album ‘I Barely Know Her’ – Listen
The debut LP from the rising alt-pop musician precedes his North American tour, and includes all the chart-topping singles of his.

Fresh off the high of his chart-topping track “back to friends,” sombr isn’t showing any signs of slowing down with the latest release of his upcoming debut album, titled I Barely Know Her.
The highly anticipated record was released across various digital and streaming platforms today (August 22), with the 20-year-old musician celebrating its release with a special free outdoor concert near Chinatown in New York City. “My baby is out. I hope it can mean something to you,” said sombr in an Instagram story posted to his account.
To commemorate the album’s release, he also announced the upcoming release of the record on a variety of physical mediums –– including CD, cassette, and various vinyl formats available on his webstore here.
News of his debut album was first shared across the rising alt-pop artist’s social media platforms, wherein he announced the record’s release date of August 22, 2025. The project was written solely by sombr, and features production by renowned “industry guru” Tony Berg (Phoebe Bridgers, boygenius, Taylor Swift) and himself.
Together with the album’s announcement, the full track list of the record was also revealed, comprising a total of ten tracks. Check it out below:

I Barely Know Her drops before sombr begins his North American tour, and follows the release of his string of singles — “back to friends,” “undressed,” and his most recent track, “12 to 12.” The latter was accompanied by an official music video, which featured a special guest appearance from Addison Rae. Just recently, sombr was nominated at the MTV Video Music Awards 2025 for the categories Best New Artist and Best Alternative for “back to friends,” showcasing his impressive appeal with listeners worldwide. Even in the Philippines, “back to friends” has showcased a strong hold on Filipino listeners, having peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 chart, and currently ranks at No. 5 on this week’s rankings (dated August 23, 2025).
sombr, born Shane Boose, first began making music in his bedroom while studying classical music as a student at LaGuardia High School. He first broke out in the music scene with his 2022 single “Caroline,” and has since released multiple EPs and singles that have launched him to global success.
