Rising Davao City-born artist Sean Archer returns with his sophomore extended play (EP), Kung Ano Ano, released under Sony Music Entertainment.

The six-track release, loosely translated in English as “mixed bag,” is created in a collage-like manner, reflecting and embracing the concept of spontaneity and surprises that are captured in the singer-songwriter/producer’s life. “[It] is a collection of songs about different things, events, and people in my life,” he shares. “It mirrors life as it is: chaotic, impulsive, but meaningful.”

Produced and written by Archer, each track on the EP provides a deep dive into his personal narrative, drawn from his experiences and observations as a young adult, with unapologetic songwriting fused with punk rock grit.

  1. “Maskara”
  2. “Ayoko Na Sa Labsong”
  3. “Anoba”
  4. “Anik Anik”
  5. “Ekis”
  6. “Photobooth”

The project’s focus track, “Photobooth,” highlights the beauty of capturing intimate, everyday moments with a loved one. “I wrote ‘Photobooth’ in like an hour and didn’t pay much attention to it initially,” Archer shares.

Habang nabubuo yung (While working on the) EP, it turned into something special. Rico Blanco convinced me that it should be the focus track. The song is about going on a date with my girlfriend, aimlessly walking, or commuting to places devoid of complications and flashy things. It’s simple and honest, and is also a huge contrast to the other tracks, which makes it special to me,” he adds.

Additionally, Archer invites listeners to find beauty in the ordinary, saying, “Sometimes, we don’t need to go places to find something beautiful. We just need to look around us, and maybe we’ll find something beautiful to write about.”
